David Jacques-Louis

David Jacques-Louis was born of a merchant family in Paris August 30 1748.David decided a career as an artist. David a young painter using both his uncle, his aunt Marie-Josephe, and his cousin as a model. In the 1766-1774 David studied at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, at the Vein's class. David often win the race in a painting competition. He spent 5 years in Italy (1775-1780) to study art. in 1780 returned to Paris, the history and mythology of Ancient became the theme of his paintings. David is a member of the Committee of Public Safety and artistic director of the National Fete, founded in the classical style.
